Find how much you have
Sign in to CompanyCam on the web as an Admin or Manager. The export is not available in the mobile app, and Standard Users have to ask an Admin or Manager to run it.
Click your user icon in the sidebar, choose Company Settings, then open the Exports tab.
Use the menu icon on the Exports tab to choose Project (not Checklist) and a date range that clearly starts before your first project. The help article does not say which date the range filters on, so go wide rather than narrow.
Click Export .CSV. The file is emailed to the address on your CompanyCam account (check spam), and larger accounts can take a few minutes.
Open the CSV. Each row is a project with its photo count, video count, document count, date created and last activity. Add up the photo column for your total, and take the earliest date created as your start.
Optional cross-check: if your plan includes the Company Dashboard, set its sections to All Time to see company-wide project, photo and checklist activity. The Overview and Users sections count different things, so expect their totals to differ.
What to put on your intake
Your intake has five boxes for each system. Here is what goes in each one for CompanyCam.
- What does it hold?
- Job-site photos and videos organized by project, plus the tags, labels, checklists and uploaded documents attached to them. Something like: inspection, progress and completion photos for every job, tagged by project.
- Data types
- Image for photos. Add Video if the video count in your export is above zero. Add Structured records if you also license the project and checklist data, and Text if crews write real notes or comments.
- How big is it?
- Choose Photos as the unit and enter the sum of the photo count column from the project export. Mention the project, video and document counts in the description so a buyer sees the whole shape.
- Verified or estimated
- Verified when the number is the sum from the CSV for your full date range. Estimated when you extrapolated from one year, from the dashboard, or from memory.
- Records start
- The earliest project date created in the export. A project's creation date can be later than when its photos were captured, so if you imported older photos, say so in the notes.
Exporting the full history
If a buyer licenses your records, this is how the full history comes out of CompanyCam.
A full-history export happens only after a license is signed and the scope is agreed: which projects, which date range, and which of photos, videos, documents and checklist data are in.
An Admin or Manager runs the project export (Company Settings, Exports) for the agreed range. That CSV becomes the index for the delivery, with a project ID, counts and dates for every job.
Photos can be downloaded from the web app for a single project (3-dot menu, Download All Photos), for one day, or for hand-picked photos. Each arrives as a zip by email, with a choice of Original or Modified when a photo has edits, and projects over 1,500 photos are split into several batches.
For a whole account the per-project route gets slow. On plans that include API access, a developer can page through projects and photos with the CompanyCam API, filtering photos by date range or project and pulling the original image files.
Checklist results come out as a CSV from the same Exports tab. Documents, files and reports live in each project's Documents tab, and the help articles we reviewed do not describe a bulk document download, so confirm that with CompanyCam support.
Under the license, project addresses, GPS coordinates and customer names are removed before anything reaches a buyer, and documents you do not own are excluded.
We only ask for an export after you sign a license and agree the scope. Sizing your data for the intake never needs one.
Limits to know
- The project export lists counts, not the photos themselves. It is a sizing tool, and photos still have to be downloaded or pulled through the API.
- The help article for the export does not say whether archived projects are included. Archiving keeps photos, videos and documents intact, so ask CompanyCam support if your count looks low.
- Deleted photos are permanently removed 90 days after they move to the Project Trash. Deleted projects can be restored by CompanyCam Support, but the help article gives no time window, so report only what you can see today.
- Only Admins and Managers can restore from the trash, archive or delete projects, and run the export. A Standard User has to ask one of them.
- The Company Dashboard is available on select plans, only in the web app, and refreshes once a day. The help article describes no export option for it.
- The documented API is described by CompanyCam as a legacy API that will be retired in early 2027, with a newer one at developers.companycam.com. Check with CompanyCam which version to build against before relying on it.
- The API reference shows photos returned 50 per page by default and 100 at most, paged by page number or by cursor. It does not document rate limits, so plan for a slow, resumable pull on a big account.

Why buyers value it
A CompanyCam account is a dated, located visual record of the work: what a roof or jobsite looked like before, during and after, one project at a time. Buyers building damage-detection and progress-tracking models struggle to find real field imagery that is tagged by phase and tied to a specific job.
The value rises when the photos can be paired with what happened next, like a repaired roof, a replacement, a closed-out job or a denied claim. Projects can carry a reference to the CRM record they came from, which helps a buyer connect the pictures to the outcome in your job system.
What stays private
Customer names, project addresses, GPS coordinates, and the contact details stored on a project (name, email, phone) come out before delivery. Photo descriptions and comments are reviewed for names and phone numbers, and your crew members' names are removed.
Documents and files uploaded to projects, such as contracts, insurance paperwork and vendor measurement reports, are excluded by default. Measurement reports and similar third-party files are usually licensed to you by the vendor that produced them rather than owned, so they stay out unless your terms say otherwise.
